I have not forgotten you

Hello! First, let me apologize. I have been away and I have neglected my blog. I’m so sorry. 🙁 I have missed you and our interaction and appreciate those of you who have reached out to see where the heck I’ve been. Aww, you’re so sweet. Well, there’s a good reason and it isn’t because I’ve been off training for some mega marathon either. (Although I am still focused on reaching my goals.) I have … Continue reading

What a difference a year makes

I am so happy that I made the decision to publicly share my fitness journey last Spring. When I started running it was hard, but quitting was not an option. I knew I’d be able to do it, I just didn’t know what the end would look like. The goal back then was to finish a 5K. When I finished my first, I thought Okay, what’s next? I’ve done five 5K’s, lost 3 pant sizes, and … Continue reading

How to torture your kids

Motherhood, or shall I say Parenthood, has many ups and downs. Somedays it feels like we’re going up a steep hill on a roller coaster and things are about to settle down, until SCREEEEAM! You’re going downhill so fast, all you can do is hold onto something and pray for it to end quickly! On those days, the days when I have to prove my point because I’m the mama and I’m going to prove … Continue reading

Ode to “Husband”

Sometimes we get attached to things that we probably shouldn’t, but some inanimate objects warrant such attention. When I was in college, my dad bought me this back pillow for those long nights of studying in bed. If you walked the dorm halls back then and looked in the rooms, most  girls had a one. We affectionately called them “Husbands.” My husband has been with me since 1988 and has been with me through three … Continue reading

No more Walmart Rx lines!

I had a series of social media posts late last year that started out, I run because… Well, one post was …because in January I want to blow my doctor’s mind. Well, today (1/22/14,) I went to the doctor and am happy to announce that I am officially off prescription meds for obesity related illnesses! In the words of Jerry Jones, Owner of the Dallas Cowboys, HOT DANG! (Well, I do take Flonase for allergies … Continue reading

That moment when…(Pt 2)

That moment when… you are running late because of your significant other and you look at the clock in the car 150,000 times before you arrive at your destination. #laterthanlate you realize you didn’t hang up the phone/press end and they can still hear you. your kids have Beats but don’t know who Dr. Dre is. you go to a family function and your “favorite” family member has yet another way for YOU to make … Continue reading

2013 – Summarized in three points

As a lot of folks do around this time, I am taking a moment to reflect on some major events in my life in 2013. Here are a few major highlights that I’d like to share and to remind everyone that God is God all by himself and he does hear and answer prayers. #1) I started off 2013 praying for full-time jobs for my husband, then me—in that order. (It might not have made … Continue reading

Tips for Aspiring Authors [#21] Never give Up–Diana Nyad style

As I drank my morning cup of coffee and watched Willie Geist of NBC’s The Today Show interview Diana Nyad this morning, her words, Never give up, resonated with me and I celebrated with her in spirit. It is so encouraging to see someone set a goal, no matter how absurd it may see to everyone else, and actually accomplish it. How many times have I said those same words, Never give up, right here on … Continue reading

Thursday morning encouragement [Run For God #5]

Oh Em Gee! I found two videos I never shared with my BWL family! I totally forgot about these and actually uploaded one to YouTube a few weeks ago and forgot about it! (Click the picture to view the first one.) It’s funny looking at them now because I know the pain I was going through when I recorded them. My face looks sooo different! Wow! Let me set this up for you. As many … Continue reading

Make the decision to do it [Run For God #4]

I made the decision to do it and I did. I ran my race yesterday! It was exhilarating and challenging all at the same time. I didn’t get much sleep at all Friday night and I woke up with a case of race day jitters yesterday. As I ran I kept thinking, I’m doing it, I’m doing it! The last quarter mile was ridiculous AND emotional. Ridiculously emotional! The course was  quite hilly. We hadn’t … Continue reading
