2013 – Summarized in three points

As a lot of folks do around this time, I am taking a moment to reflect on some major events in my life in 2013.

Here are a few major highlights that I’d like to share and to remind everyone that God is God all by himself and he does hear and answer prayers.

#1) I started off 2013 praying for full-time jobs for my husband, then me—in that order. (It might not have made sense to some, but I have my reasons for asking for it in that order.) He started work on January 2, and I started in April! NEVER GIVE UP.

#2) I took charge of my health this year by making the decision to try to run a 5K. (See RunForGod posts.) I prayed through the entire journey and with the Lord’s help, I will end 2013 having run not 1 but five 5K’s this year and I logged over 280 miles training. That had to be God because I never thought…(ain’t gone say it.) I never knew there was an athlete disguised as a fat chick living inside of me. Who knew? You know what? God knew and He has made me see the person I really am—a warrior!

#3) I took my prayer life to a different place. In October I decided I would journal every day for strength, power and to move to the next level God has for me. I can’t tell you everything that happened during those  31 days, but I must say that setting time aside to pray, meditate and journal was very powerful. It’s one thing to pour your heart out in prayer, but when you write it down, it becomes life. It was the most transformational month of the entire year.

Sure there are other things that happened during the year on a larger scale in the world, but I’m speaking for me. Yes, I have blogged on these things and shared (probably over shared on social media) but as the song says, When I look back over my life… Besides, I receive all kinds of emails from total strangers telling me how something I said or did inspired them.

I can only give God glory for all he has done for me and my family this year. Thank you for continuing to be part of Books, Writing & Life and Happy New Year!

So, if you had to hit 3 points in summary, what are you thankful for this year?

Peace and blessings,
